The steering linkage is no where close, so no, no removal required.

Are you talking about the shaft halfway up the motor?
That would be the fan drive shaft and yes that one you will need to break it at the water pump pulley to be able to remove the fan belt. ;)

Yes that is the shaft not steering. It has to come apart at the water pump only? It has a joint of some kind midway but you say it don't come apart? Thanks for the help & checked fan blade it ok. Thanks for the info to all .
