L3560HSTC hyd vs HST filter change schedule?

Just hit 50 hours on my L3560HSTC and am preparing for its' service. I do have the WSM for it and am looking it over.

At 50 hours you are scheduled to change the HST filter, but the hyd filter (which is right beside it) is scheduled for change out at 400 hours.

I'm curious why they have different schedules. I'm assuming it's because the HST filter is a much finer filter and plugs up quicker???

Anyone have any input?

For the 10 or 15 bucks ....I would change them at the same time! Aint nuttin wrong with a new filter!

Unfortunately it is not just 10 or 15 bucks, prob closer to 100 bucks or more for the two filters. All of the hydraulic oil passes through the hydraulic filter on the suction side of the pump. The oil that eventually passes into the hat is pressurized and pumped through the hst filter to filter it finer

The HST filter needed at the 50 hour service is pricey. Just picked one up for $67. It is heavy-duty but expensive. Service guy warned me that there is a aftermarket replacement (wix i think) that is much cheaper, but he said they have seen those blow out from the pressure.

Talked to a couple of guys at my dealers. They suggested changing out both hyd and HST filters as well as the fuel filter too at 50 hours. They said they do it as standard operating procedure and thought that it would pay off. They also suggested sticking with Kubota fluids while it was on warranty.

So, the bill for a HST filter, hyd filter, fuel filter, 2 gals SAE 15W40 and 1 gal of Super UDT2 to top things off came to $238 with NYS sales tax.

The prices seemed in line with those at Messick's. I would have had to pay shipping, but probably not sales tax. It would have been a wash and I just as soon give the business to my dealer.

It is money well spent. I did my B2650 the same way and use Kubota fluids and filters.

RKidd, did you change the fuel filter too? The manual says change the fuel filter when the tank is less than half. Wondering if you had any issues on the B2650.

Sorry Grouse09. Just saw the post. Did fuel filter also and just clamped off the fuel line.
