Does anyone have experience using the L3560 HST with a square baler? I need to began making hay and wanted to know if there would be any issue with the tractor handling a small baler?

Wish I could, I'm sitting on 60 acres of wet hay ground right now...

Depending on the baler weight the baler will probably toss you around a bit. I know my 575 high capacity would toss that tractor like a toy.. it don't take a gob of PTO power to run any square baler because bailing action is dependent on flywheel inertia but the baler weight as well as the reciprocating motion of the ram and con rod will toss you around. probably not a comfortable situation, least it wouldn't be for me.

I can 'feel' my 575 with the M9's and 105X and it's especially prevelant when I swing around on the headlands to change windrows and they are appreciably heavier than what you have tractor wise.

Why I prefer round baling but you lack the pto power to round bale.

It would depend upon the lay of your land and which baler that you use. Is your field pretty flat? Do you already have a baler?

I live in Florida and I have used a MF 1528 HST, 28 engine hp, and a New Holland 273 baler to make several thousand square bales. But the land here is very flat so there were no issues with pulling the baler.

The small tractor with the HST was much better at square baling then is my New Holland TL80A. The ability to keep the RPMs high and simply raise my foot off of the HST pedal to slow the feed rate into the baler or mash it down in light windrows or turns at the end of the windrows made it much more comfortable to use then the big tractor. I always assumed that the HST was absorbing the push and pull that was felt in the big tractor.

If the field is not very hilly I would think that 40 hp and HST would make a good combination.
