Good Afternoon All,

Servicing new to me L355-SS.

1.) How do I go about draining the Power Steering system? Just remove one of the lines and drain the tank? There is nothing listed in the manual other than showing how to check level (dipstick seated not threaded on tank).

2.) For the front axle differential and gearcases, manual shows how to drain and where to fill, but does not tell how much to fill. Is it fill until it drips out of fill ports?

Thanks in advance for help!

I did read that in the manual already.

What i meant with the axles is it did not tell how much to fill in terms of do you fill until it is dripping out of fill ports, or do you fill it until a certain level. There is no dipstick or sight ports obviously.

Or is it just remove it and fill it with the required amounts and thats it.

You are over thinking something quite simple. You fill it until its full.

Morning,

I am not good at finding these manual pages, but I think if you first get what you can out of the reservoir, (with some type pf suction device) you should be able to remove a return line and cycle the steering several times to get the rest out. Lifting the wheels of the ground with the loader will help, so you can steer manually.

If you don' t want to do that, I have heard people just draining and refiling the reservoir several times, cycling steering each time, to get the majority of the old out.

If something I said here was incorrect, someone will be along shortly to clear it up. ;)

@Caden Yeah that is probably what I will do, just get enough out and do a service every couple weeks for a little bit. Can never get everything out unfortunately.

Thanks!

To drain the power steering system just remove the line from the hydraulic pump. It'll drain the reservoir. You have three compartments in the front axle. Right left and center. You want them half full. Do not fill them completely up to the fill plug. The center section you can look down the fill port and see the oil halfway up on the axle shaft. The outer drives I use a plastic zip tie to stick down to check the level. Half full. Great old machine.

@007kubotaguy Thank you for that information! I figured half full was what the axles required but again just wanted others with experience on that.
Thanks for the help I appreciate it.

Excited to start using the tractor once I get my bucket cylinders back from rebuild and polishing at hydraulic shop.
