L3540 vs MX6000

Bought a L3540 in March been having issues with it. Was at dealship today and was asked about looking at a new MX6000 they need to get rid of. MX has a dealership created issue that Kubota won’t cover but dealship will, as if it fails they will turn in on insurance.

Trade money was no discussed as they needed to look into it as was not planned. I have nothing to lose by listening to their offer.

I have watched Messicks MX6000 video, so have picked up on the ins and out of their option of it.

What are Kudoba’s finance rates and what is a MX6000 worth with loader? If rates are 0% I could be looking at a wash on payments, for a brand new tractor, with 20+ more HP....

Wouldn't touch it!
Unless the price of the unit was less the amount for a complete new engine!
JB weld is not a good fix for that, tig welding would have been a much better fix!
But still a risky fix without a complete teardown.

One thing to note is that 50% (guess) of the time they don't only drill the block they drill the piston or the piston skirt when they do that.

Drilling a hole in the side of the piston or piston skirt can make the piston fail and that wouldn't be covered by the warranty either because it was caused by the drilling.

And when they pushed JB weld into the hole, did it protrude through the hole and the piston or piston skirt come down on it and do more unseen damage?

The dealership has been using the tractor around the lot, pulling box scraper and such. So it has hours on it since the incident...

Mind is not made up, going to pickup my tractor tomorrow haven’t heard their offer on the MX yet. I’m willing to listen, if it’s a doable deal with them covering engine for reasonable amount of hours, I could be interested....

My local dealer wants $44,000 CDN (34,000 USD) for a new MX6000 with an LA1055 loader, air seat, R14 tires, wheel weights, extra work lights, External rear view mirrors and the outside door handle on the RH door.
I'm not sure how that compares to prices in the US.

I personally wouldn’t do it. It would always be in the back of my mind. Also like said above tig welding it would be the correct repair.

Exactly where was the hole drilled. Is it drilled through the inner wall of the water jacket into the crankcase or cylinder or was it drilled along the inside edge of the soft plug and into the outer wall of the water jacket?
Did they take a picture?

Happens a lot with owners trying to install block heaters, normally rarely, if ever, when a dealer does the work.

Considering they are worried about water / coolant in the oil, I assumed it was inside, but you brought up a good point, if it was on the edge I would buy it.

That’s what they sell for here without the damage. I would never buy that repaired one period

Just an update, I picked up my tractor, dealership never contacted me with a price on the 6000 so I guess they don’t want to sell it very bad... Been a couple weeks and not considering the offer any longer... I’ll keep what I have

Your L3540 is tier III emissions (no DPF)

MX6000 is Tier IV (DPF)

you made a wise decision to keep your L3540 plus it's a nicer tractor overall. Just doesn't have the power.

You might question your decision for a little while. If you had bought it and IF you had an emissions system problem outside of warranty coverage, you would've had bad thoughts about trading. Hindsight.

I was talking to someone recently who's got a Tier IV tractor (DPF), it is at the dealer for no-start condition and out of warranty. Needs new injectors, supply pump, and fuel rail. I bought my last truck for less than what it's gonna cost to replace 3 parts.
