Jim can you post a picture of your bucket with the adapter? I’m trying to wrap my head how this would be done with the curved backside of our buckets. Thanks.

Sorry, I didn’t take any pictures and traded the B21 in on my L47. Basically you just weld the SSQA plate onto the tabs that are already on the bucket for the pins. On the B21 bucket they ran completely top to bottom on the bucket and made a nice flat attachment point for the plate. I welded the plate inside and out of those factory tabs and along the entire top edge of the bucket which also lines up nicely to the SSQA plate. It puts the bucket out front an extra two inches but I didn’t notice any decrease in lift capacity. On a regular tractor loader I’d think about getting a real SSQA bucket to keep the bucket as close to the pivot point as I could, but the loaders on the TLB’s are way over built for the recommended bucket size. The advantage of doing it this way is that you can just cut the plate off and reuse or sell the bucket as a pin-on bucket if you don’t like it. Harder to do that if you cut the tabs off and fabricate a different mount.

I got my first fork lesson today (yesterday, now). The Titan fork frame was delivered and my BIL commented that it looked shorter than his fork trucks. After measuring and checking on-line, we figured out that my new frame is class 2 and his equipment is class 3. Actually, he had one class 2 fork. Apparently, in the distant past they had a truck with 3 forks for loading brick or blocks, and sold it with 2 forks.
So, now I have to decide whether to buy forks, modify the ones we have, modify the frame, or? BIL is going to see if his vendor has one new or used class 2 fork first.
I knew this was going too smoothly .

Just got back with a pair of 42" forks a guy had on FB about an hour away. I'm retired and it was a nice (hot, except for AC) drive to the country boy's place, so I'm in good shape $200

Now if Amazon/UPS would just cough up my adapter, I'd be set. Amazon says it should have been delivered 3 days ago, and UPS hasn't scanned it in yet. Guess I'll give them a few more days.

8/19 update: after waiting 2 weeks on what was quoted as 3 day delivery, I tried to trace my QA adapter order unsuccessfully. On Monday 8/15, I reordered from Amazon. They're quoting 8/22 to 8/27 delivery now. As of this morning 8/19, Amazon shows it not shipped.

Cool, post up some pics on your progress if you don’t mind.... I’m not getting any younger so the phrase work smarter not harder is really coming into play. A ssqa will help me do just that.

The ATI adapter arrived Friday. Yesterday I put the bucket on a couple of 4X's so I can park the forks under it without taking up more space in the shed. Knocked out the pins and installed the adapter.

I pinned the adapter on and thought I was home free. Until I put the fork frame on.

Then I found the pins were installed backwards

After turning the pins around, it was ready to go

The only attachment for now. ATI adapter, Titan frame and used 42" forks. She'll carry a load of saplings to the dump now. Needs a backstop.

L35, if you're still watching, here's a picture of how someone welded an adapter plate to his bucket ears.

Never did find a picture of my bucket with the plate welded on it but it looked similar. Did find a pic of the B21 after I had the ATI adapter on it though. If I had to to it again I’d still just weld the plate onto the ears. I didn’t notice any difference in lift capacity and I think he makes a good point about possibly keeping the structural integrity intact by leaving the ears on it.

It wasn’t too bad of a job, a few hours in the shop is good time to relax. I chose the angle to cut so the bucket would be at the same angle as it was from the factory. I think if I welded to the plate it would not tilt and tip the same as factory spec.

Here’s a pic of someone who welded theirs straight up to the bucket, it does the job I just didn’t mind doing a little more work I suppose.

That's a different style bucket. I like how you're doing yours. Keep the cutoffs and you could convert it back to pin-on. I may eventually do mine that way, I'm not having any luck on finding a used SSQA bucket.

L35, what thickness plate did you use 1/4, 5/16? Do you have access to weld it from the back or would slotting it work better? Final picture?
