I have had a L35 backhoe for over 10 years now and it has a little over 1000 hrs. on it. The problem is here lately I have had a lot of oil blowing out the what I believe is the crankcase vent tube. I talked to a few people and heard its probably time for a new motor. From my research, the motor is a D1703TLB. Does anyone know where I can get a price a short or long block motor for my tractor. I have called the dealer and got their top dollar quote, but wanted to see if there was anywhere else I could look. Ive tried searching online and haven't found to much. Thanks in advance for any info.

At 1000 hours I wouldn't expect the motor to be worn out; unless oil was only change 2 times in its' life.
I'd check to see if oil was over-filled, or milky from water. Then check the radiator for oil.
I have heard of leaky seals in fuel pumps putting fuel into the crankcase and causing an over-filled situation with the oil blowing out like that.
See if the oil smells a lot like fuel.

Your tractor should be good for may more hours than that unless something has gone wrong.
