If you discover stripped splines, there's something I'd try before shelling out for a new pump.
Loctite 660 Quick Metal is made for repairing stripped splines - and it actually works !
The small size tube of it would be plenty for a pump spline repair - clean both parts thoroughly, put some on the splines and put a couple bolts back in to line it up during cure.
I tried it on an ATV rear axle end spline that had stripped out the cast iron brake drum hub. I was skeptical of how it would hold up - the axle has no differential so making turns on dry pavement requires spline strength. Despite my doubts it has held up in service about a year now - seems to be working fine. Must be some tough stuff.
I went back and looked at this video - which is a less-demanding application but indicates the stuff's potential. A handy aspect is it's cure is anaerobic - doesn't need air to cure - it likes an absence of air (like inside a splined connection).
Might be a way to save hundreds if your splines are slipping.
