I have a L-3450D-wet type clutch. The tractor will not move . Split the tractor and found that the splined coupling in the flywheel was stripped and the input shaft was also stripped. Any sugestions on how to remove the shaft and replace it.

Re: owner

Just a heads up that you might get more traction in your post if you post a meaningful subject. Not sure what "owner" is supposed to mean.
If you change it to "3450 clutch" or something like that, you might get somebody's attention.

Just a thought and sorry I couldn't help with the prob.

Re: owner

The coupling bolts into the flywheel from the back of the flywheel. If you remove the flywheel it should be straight forward. How many hours do you have on the tractor. I had a wet clutch tractor years ago and the clutch broke faster than they could replace it.

It seems that the parts are obsolete for this model now. Kubota should have some sort of replacement part It is a 35080-14220 input shaft when and if I find one I will think abou trading the tractor

Re: owner

As I recall, Kubota had so many problems with their wet clutch experiment that they dropped it right away. I seem to remember the dealer telling me that there was no logical way to convert it to a dry clutch. If that's possible, it would be the best fix. If it is possible, it would probably cost a fortune.

Jerry,
Your first and best bet is to call West Kentucky tractor parts.
They might have what you need.
If not take the parts to a good machine shop they should be able to reproduce the parts, way cheaper than just scraping the tractor.

Rentthis,
Actually the wet clutch was a complete success and is used on almost all higher end model Kubota's today. What wasn't the successful part of it was the location placement, now they move it back and make it internal to the transmission and just use a flex plate off the flywheel to the input shaft of the transmission.

Yes - Kubota was relatively cautious introducing their wet clutches. First came the hydraulic shuttle in the L355. Larger versions appeared in the mid 80's machines. Some integrated the pto, others separated the pto. They handled up to 60 hp and were given the name Ever Clutch.

With the industry's widespread adoption of variable hydrostatic drives (HST), there are fewer wet clutches used today. Kubota's HST machines use a dry clutch at the engine, with the HST driving the travel system. Wet multi-disk clutch packs are still seen these days on higher end machines for engaging the pto.

Re: Clutch L3450DT

I had a wet clutch tractor in the 90s. I had many problems with the clutch. I asked the same question and was told that they were not interchangeable. So the answer is at best, probably not.

Re: Clutch L3450DT

Not without changing the transmission and clutch housing, so very expensive.

What is you problem?

Re: Clutch L3450DT

Several parts are different. The L3450 was available with wet or dual dry clutch, synchro or regular gearbox, mid pto or not, so finding all the right parts might not be easy.

Does your wet clutch creep in neutral (drag)? chatter? make noise? grab? slip? shift slow?

Re: Clutch L3450DT

If you think the wet clutch is expensive to replace/fix, price a new dry dual clutch. Not a big difference in price, but HUGE difference in the actual transmission. You'd have to find a whole tractor and swap parts between the two. The entire front section of the transmission is different.

Re: L 3450 dt

Well sadly that is one part you will have to bite the bullet and get from Kubota, no aftermarket parts available.

What exactly is happening or not happening?

Re: L 3450 dt

The shaft and hub are stripped. I have tried to have someone repair the hub but it looks like it is not possible. I have thought about parting it out ,but it is a very good tractor.

Re: L 3450 dt

Awww, yes I remember your other posts, starting new threads with the same problem get confusing to all of us, I'm combining the three threads, try and keep posting to the same thread.

Yes a new clutch pack is very expensive 6K + is what I'm finding.
Doesn't look like individual parts are available.
If you want to save some money your either going to have to find used or your going to have to find a machine shop that is willing and able to make the parts to fix it.
Post some pictures of what you have and what you need.

The tractor running is worth about 5k to 14k depending on the condition and mounted equipment, a non running unit as a whole is worth about less.

Thanks I appreciate the info. There is no parts available except New. They are expensive. I have tried machine shops but no one wants to do this . I guess I will have to bite the bullet I guess. I can get the hub but the shaft is the problem. Again thanks for the help. I don't think that there is a new clutch availablle. If I am able to get one is it true that it would not last very long. Some folks say that they are not dependable.

If you can find the entire clutch assembly new it would last longer than the rest of the tractor.
The new P/N for the clutch assembly is 35080-14205
