Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum. I'm glad I found this forum, there alot of info here. I have a 86 L345DT with a loader. I can use it for hours with no problem. But if I use my 4' bushhog, it starts losing coolant out the over flow tube with in 30 min. It will empty the radiator with in a couple of minutes after that, and it'll start steaming out the over flow hose. Ill shut it down. The gauge will run half way or a little close to hot. I changed the radiator cap, flushed out the radiator, put a on a new belt, and the thermostat seems to be working alright. Any ideas what it could be?Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Fill the radiator full, run it with the cap off, let it warm up and then look for bubbles.

If its got bubbles, it's got a bad head gasket. ;)

Hello
I would do as Wolfman says. Also be sure the radiator is clean. I know sometimes it appears to be But you still
may have debris in the fins. the L345DT radiator Was marginal in size. It does not take much for it to overheat. Is your air filter clean? Good luck. Lance

007 is talking about the outside of radiator. There is probably a screen in front of the radiator also. These often get plugged with grass seed and fluff.

You may want to remove the radiator and soak the outside in some cleaning solution and check the fins to make sure they are not all bent up.

Don’t use a high pressure washer on it or the fins will probably be bent badly.

I run with a cheap AC filter in front of the radiator to help keep it clean since it is kind of a pain to clean it on my L185

The battery also blocks off some of the radiator so you may need to ensure it is not against the radiator

Thank yall for the info. I wash out the outside of radiator with the water hose for about 30 min. First from the back side then the front. I don't have screen so there was a lot of small stuff up in the radiator. I went out and cut my aunt's field. It wasn't nothing too thick and just about 2' tall. I ran it for an hour and it didn't over heat. So tomorrow I'm going to wash it out again, make a radiator screen, and put in some fresh coolant. Thanks again for the info.

Look at the cheap AC filters. I use one from Filtrete that is thin with a strange shaped edge to make it an inch thick. I have to cut the edge down to get down to the bottom and it sticks out the sides too far but covers the whole radiator face and pretty cheap.

I think you can buy the blue filter material in rolls but I haven’t tried that material yet, too many sharp edges to catch onto

You may look online at Kubota illustrated parts list and see if you can get the original one or see if there was one

I cleaned out the radiator again and made a screen for it this morning. Use the tractor and bushhog for 2 hours today, with no overheating. Maybe cleaning out the radiator really good fixed my problem. Thanks again for the info.
