The cap LOOKS like the original chrome fuel cap. I do not see how it is vented but have read numerous articles stating problems because the vented caps have plugged up. Don’t want to collapse my tank, any help out there?

Welcome to the forum.

Your engine will not pull enough suction to cause a dimple in your fuel tank. It will sputter and a loose power first. If the fuel cap is venting properly you'll not have the engine miss when lacking fuel.

So when posters come and ask about why their tractor is not running smooth, or runs a while then dies, that's one of the first things to check. You can simply unscrew the fuel cap a couple of turns to allow air to equalize as a test.

Over the past couple of weeks, my L3901 has been sucking the tank in, such that the nozzle/cap tilts almost to the point that the cap is so pushed up against the cowling hole that I can barely get it off.

What's the best way to clear the vent on the cap?

Thx

2017 L3901. It had 58 hours on it when I bought it used in March. As of today, I have 210 hours. I've gotten to where I just open the cap everytime I stop for water, etc. I mow 34 acres over about 2-1/2 to 3 days and I am running it for about 8-10 hours per day. Very hot and humid here (90+ degrees, 80+ % humidity).
