I was bush-hogging this past weekend and ran over a stump. I quickly pushed in the clutch, raised the bush-hog, and disengaged the PTO. I tried to move forward and reverse, but the engine tries to cut off. It seems as if there is a safety switch somewhere that is cutting electrical power to the engine. Any ideas or suggestions on what could be wrong and how to fix it? I am unable to use the tractor and the weeds are growing fast. Any help is greatly appreciated.
LDO,
I am right around the mountain from ya - in Bedford!
Could the jolt have knocked it out of gear - on your machine you have a high and a low range, (medium too I bet) Could you be between gears? Look under the tractor and follow the linkage from the gear selector lever - something bent? Throw the lever in all the gears and see if that changes anything, and or see if IT will move from high to low ......
Any leaking fluid from under?
Is the brake locked by chance? I am just throwing out thoughts......
Explain more what exactly happened.....I got the stump part......what did it HIT ? the underbelly of the tractor???? Was there other "sticks" there too?
Hit me up with PM and I can help you if need be.
