New here and need help. L3301 started blowing HST filter while running the bushhog. Correct me if I'm wrong. Hydraulic oil is pulled out of transmission (?) thru filter into pump. From there it goes to pressure relief valve and on to the different systems on the tractor. After going thru the radiator/cooler it comes back to the transmission (?) thru the filter on the left side. If this is correct then something is stopped up/not working after returning thru filter. I've checked relief valve and it seems to be working correctly. Oil level is right. Everything looks OK, but of course it's not. Thoughts?

Does it actually rupture the metal cylinder?

There are two hydraulic filters and two pumps.

The suction filter is ahead of both pumps and never sees positive pressure.

The HST filter is after the PS controller snd ahead of the transmission. It sees HST charge pressures.

Those two filters are not interchangeable

Consult the WSM for circuit diagrams and pressure testing procedures

Post a pic of the blown out filter. It is possible you walked out of the dealership with the wrong filter.

I always double check everything I buy to make sure I get the right part. In this case it was indeed the right filter. Something is not allowing the the oil to continue on after the filter. Thus it expands and blows out the seal.

Look at the hydraulic circuit diagram.

That filter is fed by the return flow from thd PS contriller. The filyet feeds the HST and from there goes to tank. The HST controls the filter pressure subject to the maximum PS relief @ 3000 PSI.

What is the part number printed on your filter?

If the pressure relief in the HST is malfunctioning it will cause this situation.
Get the WSM and inspect the pressure relief valves, there are three.

Filter is HHK70-14073. Where does the oil go after passing thru this filter? Does it go into the tank. Any thoughts on why there is no flow thru this filter?

The oil goeS to the HST. I am not sure about the L3301 but on others it is used as charge pump pressure. Read the WSM - its free and full of details!!!
