Tractor lost power while bush hogging the pasture. It stalled out when backing into cut grass off of my lagoon. I restarted the tractor, it acted like the engine had started to run backward. Shut off the engine and restarted the engine again it sounded like I dropped a valve.
Brought the tractor up to the house it would start, beltch black and blue smoke.
Opened the engine to see if we dropped a valve but all valves were fine and no internal damage to the pistons, cylinders or head was found.
The number 2 cylinder looked as if it had not fired for a long time. Replaced head gasket, put in new injectors replaced fuel pump.
Yet still won’t start at all. Also seems to have excessive blow by in the crank case as well.any guesses as to where to look now?

Obvious will be the fuel and electrical questions to come.

Past problem and present problem makes me curious about compression. Test compression on each cylinder. Besides rings, could be glow plug seal, injection nozzle seal, ...

Was valve clearance measured such that it was not excessive?

How many hours on machine?

Did you bleed the injection lines?
Did you replace the fuel pump or the injection pump?
