L3130 hst

Hi All, I am looking at an L3130HST with an FL and scraper, top n tilt. It is a 2005 model with 2500 hours on it serviced by Kubota dealer he says. He wants $16,500 and is negotiable. I like it, haven't seen it in person due to distance but don't know if I should be concerned about the hours. I have a Yanmar F26 but the L3130 would be so, so much better.

Anyway, what do y'all think?

Gary - I'm just swingin', and I'm also cheap.

I've seen L39 TLB's go for that AT AUCTION, with less than 500 hours. Now, that might have been the buy of the century, or a big headache for somebody later.....

I think $16.5 is optimistic, because of hours. T-n-T is a great feature, and has value, too. Better be pristine to command that in my book, but remember I'm cheap.

Look at it, and go from there. Unseen, I think $12-14k, but prices vary widely in different areas.

Thx for the info, I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

Out here (Ca) it seems tractors are a bit pricier. I grew up on the East Coast and visit often and wish I could get their prices out here. Even considered importing from there but that's a lot of work to keep on top of inventory not to mention the requisite bankroll.

It has been listed for 25 days now so maybe the price is soft.

I'm with RCW. I have seen a few ~300-700hr L3130's with the heavy loader (and some with the light one) around here without aux hydraulics advertised between $14-18k. I have an L3710 that people are scared of buying and its 2000hrs young...I can't probably command much more than $13k for it and I have the skid steer quick attach and a few buckets and forks with it.

Even though I have 100% confidence in a 2500hr Kubota, some would rather spend a little more for a low hour one.

To answer your question should you be concerned about the hours? No, you will likely need to rebuild the hyd cylinders at some point soon, do some axle seals if they haven't been done yet, and also the tie rod ends. All things that those are famous for. Check those things closely and ensure there is no weeping when you raise the loader all the way up and lower it down several times.

Check front axles for leaks/stains around the pivots.

Check bottom of machine for leaks.

I know availability drives price. What does a NEW B series with loader run out there? Or for that matter a new L?

I would say 2500hrs it would be down in the $12-14k even in a highly desirable area. You're paying top dollar by going to a dealer too vs private party.

Thanks to you also, great info! I will be sure to check those things. My main concern is the drive train, I can fix everything else but don't want to get into the drive train and engine, but from your advice the latter probably won't be an issue.

Dealers out here stick pretty close to sticker price although I heard there is one a cpl hours away that deals, I may check him out. BTW- this is from a private party.
