L3130 HST Mid and High Gear

Recently purchased a 2004 L3130 HST. Changed all fluids and Filters, fixed several leaks. The current issue with the tractor is operation (just driving, no implements) in Mid Gear the tractor very easily BOGS down as soon as there is the slightest incline in travel, and in High gear immediately BOGS down and will not move. The tractor seems to function perfectly in LOW gear which is really all I need, however it would be nice to have the other gears when moving around the property. Any thoughts before I take to the shop?

Did you clean/replace the fuel filter? If so, did you close the bleeder valve on the injector pump after it started? (I think your tractor has one)

Does engine rpm's stay the same when it bogs down
Or are you saying the engine bog down?
If it's just the tractor bogging and not the engine, I'll bet you have a toasted clutch!

This may be a square 1 question - is this by chance your first HST tractor? What rpm do you customarily set the hand throttle to? I remember when driving my first HST I used the HST pedal like a "gas pedal" which was wrong.

First adjust the hand throttle to around 1800 rpm, and THEN try pressing the HST pedal to adjust the travel speed. If the engine is running fast enough to turn the wheels that fast, it will. But if its set too low it will try but just bog down - unless you give it more rpm to work with.

When an rpm is set, the HST is capable of many speeds - from 0 to what ever uses all its power. If the rpm is set too low, the engine can't meet a request to give more power than it has.

Hope this makes sense. Sorry if I'm telling you stuff you already know. Dick B

Almost hate to throw this out there, but have you ruled out the parking brake lock is not engaged?

I also have a l3130 hst dose the same thing (Parking break is Definitely off) ran it down the road after reading post does react the same as you have mention / Also applied parking break it will barely move med. & high gear /Did the parking break off fix your bog down problum??
