Hi all. New to this forum. I just bought an l3010hstfrom a dealer as is. It has issues but I feel the price was too good to pass up. $2500. Everything works on the tractor except mid range. When mid range is selected the tractor wont move forward or backwards. Low and high work fine. The tractor spent its entire life at a marina moving boats around. The pto,s have never been used. The motor runs good but does smoke. It has a lot of hours on it 4600, but has never been worked. I hope working it a bit may clear up some of the smoke. If you have any ideas on the mid range problem I would love to hear about it. Thanks.

Just got the tractor delivered and looked into the mid range problem and found it was as simple as adjusting the linkage so the shift lever was not bottoming out before the shift fork was fully engaged. So relieved it was not serious. Had the dealer spent i little time looking at it instead of thinking it was terminal, they could of made more money on it.

You STOLE that thing! I would suggest running some good diesel conditioner/injector cleaner thru that, maybe even some marvel mystery oil in the fuel as well.

You may need to advance the injector pump, or clean injectors, or like you said just run it hot and hard.

I would suggest in addition to the injector cleaner, warming it up properly and then opening the throttle fully and taking it down the road in high range, putting a good load on the motor....head up a hill if you have one around, load up the motor at high rpm...that should help heat it up and clear out any carbon.

Change your HST fluid and put in fresh SUDT2, new filters. You'll likely get another 4000 hrs out of it if properly maintained!!
