L3000 Hi-Lo gear shift

I recently purchased this L3000. From a individual . And not knowing much about them, might have been a Big mistake!
Finely figured out what the lever on the left did. It’s the Hi-Lo gear shift lever, & it doesn’t Work! It just moves back & forth very easily, with no resistance. And the Tractor drives the same. And while driving, you can move the lever back & forth.
So apparently it’s not connected inside or broken!
How do I fix it? Or do I have to take it to a dealer?

I just checked # 30 the pin is visible. But I’ll knock it out tomorrow to see if it’s sheared. I really hope that’s the problem!

I checked, the pin is there & not sheared!
do you think that I can get to it from the top of the rear end?
Or does the tractor have to be split?

You can see it from the top, if you can fix it or not is another question.
I would start with that and see where it gets you.
