Hello ,

I’ve been diagnosing an issue with my l2900 where no voltage is given to the fuel stop solenoid when the key is turned to off position. Solenoid was bad to start, so I replaced that along with the key stop timer. The previous owner had the fuse block all twisted up so I am currently working on that now. However I noticed what looks to be a ground wire today coming out of the main harness that feeds the head lights and stop solenoid ect. It looks like a black wire with a few spaced out brown stripes. It does not have enough length to reach the main ground where the battery is connected. Anyone know where it goes?
Thanks

It sure looks like a ground wire. However, my WSM indicates all grounds should be solid black without any color tracers or markings. So it might have been something someone added in the past.

I think it's a ground jumper that would go under a solenoid mounting bolt.

To me, it looks like it goes to that white connector just above the new solenoid.
'follow' the wire and see WHERE it goes..
If it IS a 'ground' wire, I have a problem with the brn stripe on it ,as all 'grounds' are solid black wires.

I took a look at my L2900 and it appears the wire is connected to the bold that hold the fuel filter assembly to the frame. Seems to be a convenient grounding point.

What you just did is what houndsmen call "chasing rabbits". When hounds are persuing the intended prey sudenly decide to follow fresh rabbit scent the houndman says his dogs are chasing a $%@*& rabbit. Good mechanics refuse being distracted by a rabbit and stay the course until subject problem is resolved. Don't chase rabbits. 🐰
