L2900- Fuel pump delivery gasket/o-ring replacement

I have an L2900 that has a slight fuel leak that I think is coming from one of the delivery valve holders. This model has an assembly plate lock (part 070, attached diagram) to prevent tinkering. I do not want to mess with something I shouldn't but have read conflicting things online.

Can anyone confirm that I can remove the lock (070), thread out the delivery holder (060), and replace the gasket (050) and o ring (210), without causing harm or messing up a setting/timing to the fuel pump itself. Any tips?

Many will argue with me. I do them all the time. Relatively straightforward. Just remove the delivery valve and replace the o-ring. Pay close attention to the order of things and keep things clean.

Following along here since I also have a slightly leak on my machine and haven't had the time to go looking for the source yet. Thanks for highlighting one potential avenue

If you do, please take some pictures if you can. I may have to attempt this in the future, and am also spooked by playing with anything that might mess up my timing. I figure a few cans of brake cleaner would be needed on my end first to get things tidy ahead of time.

Mine is new enough to me that I still have to change the oil and coolant and things, Im not getting to the fiddly stuff just yet. So if you want to wait until it warms up next spring, then maybe.... :)

What I do, Right or Wrong, judge me if you want. :p
Clean the top and around each holder with brake parts cleaner, SPOTLESS!
You do not want anything getting in there!
I take the lock off and mark each delivery valve holder so I can reinstall them at the same mark.
I remove them counting rotations.
Install new O-rings and sealing gasket then reverse install.

Sadly this is what the WSM has to say about it.

If you want it 100% right you would have to send it in to a shop and have it rebuilt.

I looked today and it looks like my leak is from the bleeder valve or the hose leading from it. Might be an easier fix than the delivery valve holders...
