So after about 50+ hours of working on my shop project, my L2850 GST suddenly is extremely hard to start. It had been running great and always started with ease up to this point. I pulled the fuel line off the lift pump, and it seems to be pumping ok, not a lot of volume or pressure, but it is pumping. So is my main pump shot? How do I check the main pump? Is there a rebuild kit out there for the main pump?

I figured it out. The guy I hired to move some dirt around had shut it off with the fuel cutoff lever. I cycled the lever at the pump several times and now she starts fine. Must have been stuck partially open. Starts great again. Guess I need to pull the shutoff cover, and clean and lube the lever.

Gotta like an easy fix!
My old L2850 only has manual cutoff for shutting down. I should go through my cutoff-I’ve been plagued with it not restarting hot, but haven’t found anything amiss in the fuel delivery, but am now wondering if it could be the cutoff.

Apparently the fuel cutoff lever opens by spring pressure only, pushing the knob in releases closing pressure, but does not positively push the lever to the open position.
