L2850 sight glass replacement

Happy new year all! So, much to my dismay, I thought my new to me L2850 had moisture in the hydraulic system because the sight glass was “milky” looking. Fortunately, when I drained the Hyd fluid out, it was clean and clear. Upon closer inspection, it appears that the PO completely gooped up the sight glass with a whitish sealant I assume to stop it from leaking. The “glass” has a star fracture in the middle. Problem is, I can’t see the oil level due to the goop. I need a replacement. I can’t find a replacement glass in the Kubota parts diagrams. Does anyone know a part number or a source for a replacement glass?
Is it pressed in with an o-ring or threaded? I’ve seen a company called JW Winco that has various sight glasses. I’d appreciate any advice on best option, thanks.

Here is a picture of it and they show other views on Messicks. It appears that there is a seal on the outside diameter of the plug.

Just ran outside and easily pried the old glass out . It’s exactly as you said.

It should have a rubber/silicon seal around it, but I used a light coat of oil resistant automotive sealer around the seal before installing mine, just the same. (for L2350 shown)

Yea, I use RTV when I install them.

Ever use 3-Bond 1104? Great stuff for gluing motorcycle cases together. Tough, elastic, impervious to oil and gasoline. Ultra rtv is a great tip too.

3 bond works excellent on cases, metal to metal.
Doesn't work as well as Ultra RTV on rubber to metal.

Black Ultra is what I used.

I had some Yahmabond sitting around and it does well metal to metal . Wasn't sure about rubber on metal.

I know Ultra works.

So although Coleman’s listed it as in stock, it’s not. 3-4 week lead time due to !&$@&#%^ Kubota blackout. Hope local dealer has it!

If the local dealer doesn't have it ( which knowing your dealer I bet they don't), Call messick directly as they will ship USPS for less, but it is slower shipment.
I'll look in my stash as I might have one laying around, I'll let you know if I find one.

It was a long shot, but they don’t have it. I ordered one from messicks, says it will ship today. We’ll see. If you have one laying around, I’ll definitely buy it. Thanks for the offer!!
