Which solenoid? I don't understand the question. Generally speaking if you can locate a replacement it should be easy to replace. You may even be able to source an aftermarket replacement if that's what you're asking.

Thanks. Starter solenoid. Hitachi T1060 starter. No identifying numbers on the solenoid, but I can find a new starter for $120. Prob is I am a radical recycler, and I replaced an old Volvo solenoid about 55 years ago, so, I'm not ready to surrender, esp if what I have is a wiring issue.

Generalities here, because time is different for each person.

First, go to kubotausa.com/parts. Shows for that machine, T1060-16800 starter assy. The solenoid, (switch, magnetic) Kubota T1060-16950.

Looking at Kubota part number, dealers want about $360 for one. That's the solenoid, not the starter assy.

The Hitachi number for starter is S114-833B. The Lester Catalog number is PMGR (permanent magnet gear reduction) 18288. You can find cheaper starters with these part numbers.

You could drill down to the solenoid itself. Internet shows these for sale as after-market.

Or, remove the solenoid and see what the problem is. The movable contact assy is a replaceable part should that be the problem. It may be that what is needed simply is cleaning and lubrication.

My personal preference, given the prices, would be to look at the solenoid first. If can't be fixed, then buy a new after-market solenoid. Or two. A total replacement starter is not going to have the original's quality.

Well do what feels good and be happy, but if I were you, I would buy the new aftermarket starter unit, and then play with the old one, hoping to end up with a good spare that I will never need.

Last year for about 20 percent of Kubota price ( or less delivered), I replaced a failed fuel cutoff solenoid on my BX2200. Looked exactly the same, and performs exactly the same after almost a year now.

The easy solution is often the best solution...for me anyway...
