I have just bought a L260 and am planning a full service before i put it to work. I have everything i need except for a thermostat. Kubota told me today “good luck finding one of those”. The oem part number 10231-73010 does not seem to cross reference to any other thermostat. Does anyone know of a good replacement to try. Ive already tried oreilly’s, advanced auto, and NAPA.

From looking on the Messicks site I suggest you call them.
. 877-260-3528.

They have no stock but claim they can have one in 5 to 7 days for $51.

Looking on the Kubota.ca parts site I see a L260 thermostat with part # 19434-73014

I can find the same part available on Messicks.

I find it hard to believe this thermostat is so unique that no other engine uses the same one.

I do think that the web sites could do a much better job of listing more info.

Does your engine have a thermostat now that could be a comparator?

I agree. I have a hard time believing that thermostat is the only one like it. I also find it odd that no forums speak of this one of a kind part. Im not sure if mine has one yet. I plan to moving it to my shop today to start draining fluids. Im hoping it does.

Update on the thermostat. I found a WN0071 inline billet aluminum thermostat housing, that houses a standard chevy thermostat. Perfect fit with no room to spare between the old welded housing and the radiator. Cost about $70 but Now i will never have an issue replacing the thermostat.
