L2550 will not start without jumping off. Cleaned the battery terminals cause they were a little corroded, no help. I bought it used a few years ago and there are what I think are after market lights on the roll bar which I noticed tonight were weaker than normal but got stronger as I gave more throttle. Alternator was tested last year and was good. Had someone bypass some auxiliary wiring on it and had worked fine since last year. Any other things to look at or try? It***8217;s a real pain in the ass to jump everyday.

So there is nothing wrong with the tractor as it starts fine with booster cables, unless I'm reading this wrong.
Most likely a faulty battery.

So this says the alternator or dynamo is working to some extent, but probably struggling with a faulty battery.

Have your battery load tested, it's probably toast.
Disconnect/remove battery and put your jumper cables to the battery leads and start it. If it works, it's the battery.

When a tractor acts as you describe the steps 100 td suggest get you going again. One other thing that is often a problem is the ground connection at the tractor frame is dirty and corroded. The cable needs to be removed and all rust and paint cleaned to bare metal.

Good point D2Cat, I "ass umed" he'd done them, but reread the post and he only cleaned the battery terminals. If he was jumping directly to the battery then his ground is good, if he was jumping to the battery positive and the engine or frame negative, then he may have a bad ground.
