After many “should be ready next week”, my new L2501 was delivered yesterday. Spent a few hours on it yesterday, and was surprised at how much power and speed it has. Having had an L3800, and read how under-powered L2501 could be. It lifted, pushed, dragged, and drove up hills without issue. Had wanted R-1 tires, but had to accept R-14’s, jury still out on those?
Anyways, back at it today, just waiting till 8:eek:o am, have several new neighbors, not used to the beautiful sound of a diesel 🚜.

Glad to hear you like it! Especially coming from a bigger one. Mine is being delivered Wednesday. Since I have nothing to compare it to except my friends 22 year old Deere I wouldn't know if it was underpowered. Lol

Congrats!
The L2501 is a great tractor! And yes, it has lots and lots of torque! I love mine.

You will enjoy it and it’ll serve you well for years and years to come!

I have been thinking about replacing my 40 HP Allis Chalmers with one of these as I could benefit from having a loader. My primary use would be to mow well groomed farm trails periodically. Will the 19 HP PTO provide enough power to run my 6 ft light duty mower? I typically don't let the grass/weeds get over a foot in height. Thanks

Welcome - lots of great info and advice on here. Mine was the "goldilocks" choice for me also and does everything that I ask of it.

IMO - You will NOT be disappointed with the R14s vs R1s They are a great option and I have had mine in DEEP mud and slop with no issues / good over lawn etc.

I have been running a Landpride RCR1272 (6 ft) light duty cutter on my L2501 hst to maintain my trails and also cut dense cool season grasses 12 to 16 inches tall. I also cut some tall weeds at a higher height in my native prairie planting. So far I have never wanted for more HP even up some steeper hills, and have not used anything but medium gear.

Yes good torque and the speed so far is good, I’ve pushed the RPM’s to 2400, not sure what the max RPM set at, is yet. Being careful first several hour’s especially, and want to break it motor for max power in future.

I have had an L2501 gear for a few years and have never wanted for more power or torque (I run a 5' brush hog, 6' land plane and 6' grader blade). There have been times I wished for more lifting capacity but would have needed to get something bigger than an L3901 for that. Or times I wished for more traction (I have R4s) but again would need a larger machine for that (or ag tires, which I didn't want).

So, congrats on your new tool! Enjoy!

50 hour update, the 2501 preforms extremely well, can be a bit slower on a steep uphill climb, and a bit of lugging when working it hard with box blade. Having had l3800 previously, I had expected, a bit less power, so some work takes bit longer to preform.
I was having an issue while doing Loader Work, ie climbing over rocks, humps and up the dirt pile, but it was my R-14 tires. Smaller diameter wheels, and less traction. Fortunately, my salesman/dealer swapped out tires for R-1’s.
Also, now that ‘break-in’ is over I can run at full RPM’s, when needed, which was set at 2400.

Thr R4s on my L2501 have held up well.
