Sounds like a good route to go for what your doing.

I can’t imagine that an extra cup or two of fuel would make much difference for anyone’s operations.

This strainer that I bought fits

HOWEVER, unless you are filling your fuel tank with an eye dropper, it's basically as worthless as a knitted condom.

I will say this though, it does work for keeping large'ish "junk" from dropping in when you first remove the fuel cap, so I am keeping it in. But it has to be removed to actually fill the tank, unless you plan on taking 3.5 hours to fill your tank.

I will say this though, it does work for keeping large'ish "junk" from dropping in when you first remove the fuel cap, so I am keeping it in. But it has to be removed to actually fill the tank, unless you plan on taking 3.5 hours to fill your tank.

Just my observations......

If you are mainly concerned about large items getting into the fuel tank use an awl and punch some holes in the upper side of the strainer for greater flow.

Is their a reason Kubotas OEM fuel strainer for the L's are not good enough?

In their parts catalogue they call it Kubota L Series Fuel Tank Strainer Product Code:TI1593. My dealer in Canada orders them in as I worry about pine needles, bark, chainsaw shavings, etc... blowing in while refueling.

sure local dealer might not have one in stock but Amazon and other places and other dealers make ordering stuff delivered right to your door pretty easy.

yes they work for us. We have strainers on almost everything we own. Nature of the beast here I guess cause we not be a pristine location thats for sure / we definitely not a show farm. UNlike my brother I have never waxed a piece of equipment.

I don't think it would handle the flow of a hi-flo diesel pump (maybe the 15/16" nozzles but definitely not the 1 3/16" nozzles from commercial gas stations) but we fill with a gravity tank or 5 gallon cans when out of the machine shed and it handles it fine. Quality wise... ehhh... not overly impressed. would love it to be stainless but heck all our gas cans are plastic and youngest maybe 20 years old as I don't remember last time i bought a 5 gal can and that plastic seems to be holding up??

a good dealer should be able to convince the local rep to pull any OEM dealer stuff from anywhere in the world. I know 20 years or so back some had hard time getting "grey" market tractor stuff but around here even that wasn't a problem it was just considered service on tractors sold by other dealers just like getting service on used stuff and other brands not originally sold from our dealer. But that was whole different story elswhere.

I have been following this discussion and am interested in the fuel strainer. I have not been able to find the part number above , TI1593 in the Kubota parts online system. Has anyone found these in the US?

Maybe I am missing something (I am probably biased as well since Mr Funnel works with both my machines) but how does the coffee filter type work better than the Mr. Funnel which can be used universally on a lot of other products? Is it just the convenience of leaving in the filler neck?

I had looked for a strainer for my L2501 a year ago and was not able to find a OEM for it. I am assuming not all L series have the same fuel tank filler neck. Do you know if that part number does in fact fit The L2501. I think that is what the OP's model also.

The biggest reason I was looking for a strainer that sat in the neck of my fuel tank is the propensity for dirt, dust and debris collection around the neck and under side of the filler cap. The mear act of removing the cap can cause that dirt and debris to fall into the tank. It is really hard to get in with a rag and clean under the cap before removing due to the way the hood sheet metal is designed.

Great point…I never thought about that. I lost the spring / mechanism off the drip proof spouts into my tank and went to the funnel with filter.

Mr. Funnel doesn't allow one to prance about the tractor (or lawn mower in my case) like a deranged barista.
