Over last weekend I put about 8 hours on the hour meter clearing land I have in Buckingham County. On Sunday as I was loading the tractor onto the trailer I noticed a fuel leak from the fuel filter. I unscrewed the filter and examined the threads, o-ring and filter housing and found zero defects. After reattaching the filter to the housing the leak stopped. Are leaks from the fuel filter assembly common and if so is there a better assembly to upgrade too?

When you re-tightened it, that might have been all needed to seal that connection. Always make sure there is a super clean mating surface before tightening filter.

I'm looking for a better one, not real hard yet.....

I work for Cummins and so far everything I've found has been to large but I have faith that once I get our filtration team on it they can find one and when I do I will post it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought it was a cracked housing at first. It was just odd that everything looked fine yet it was dripping away until I removed it and put it backs.

Please do. This unit is very flimsy and a weak point in the system IMO.

I had the same thing happen to my L2501. As I was backing out of a brush pile I noticed a trail of oily looking stuff on the ground. I thought at first I had a hydraulic leak, then I saw a pretty good stream of fuel coming out of the filter housing. I took the line loose coming from the tank and stuck a stick in the line to stop the fuel. I then unscrewed the plastic housing (it was tight) thinking the housing must be cracked. Finding nothing wrong with it I screwed it back on and it doesn't leak a drop. I guess something hit it and started the leak. This is a micky mouse setup for a fuel filter. I would like to find a replacement also.

If anybody out there finds a good replacement for this filter, please post it on here. I would love to find one with a metal housing and a spin on metal filter.

I didn't take the time to see if there is a cutoff valve at the tank. I just stuck a stick in the line while I had the filter off. Anybody know if there is a cutoff valve? I left my tractor in the woods where I was working or I would look. Thanks.
