Hi! I've been trying to get my tractor into 4WD and haven't been able to get the lever to move at all. It has no give to it even when I follow the instructions in the manual and is stuck in the down position. Any tips for troubleshooting or how to solve this issue? Could be simple, but this is my first tractor.
Thank you

Try putting it in neutral with the clutch in.

I usually rock the steering wheel back and forth... Can you lift the front wheels off the ground with the front end loader?

Long shot but just in case, have you tried to move the level in the other direction, to make sure it's not already in 4x4?

My L3901 is very hard to shift. Seems to be the nature of the beast. Try using the loader to lift the front wheels off the ground.

I find that it is easier to get in and out of 4-wheel drive if you are rolling.

Is your L2501 a HST or DT?

I thought mine was hard to move when it was new, but it seems to have "freed up".

I would try the above suggestions.

Is it a new machine?

Often times when it seems the lever won't budge move the tractor forward a couple of inches then backward a couple. Be sure to depress the clutch before trying to shift to 4x4. The movement helps release the pressure on the lever.

My LX3310 with hydro won't go into 4WD unless I push the forward/reverse pedal while putting pressure on the 4WD lever. The second the tractor starts to move the lever moves into the 4WD position easily.
