Folks,
Recently bought an L2500DT to use on my small tree farm/hunting area in South Georgia. I'm installing a used golf cart canopy and want to get the parts before I head out on the 90 mile drive to where the tractor is located. Not realizing I shouldn't weld to the ROPS until I started reading here, I have not measured the dimensions of the ROPS (roughly) square tubing. I now want to use an almost square "U-shaped" bracket but don't know the size I should buy. Does anyone know or have an L2500 close by they could measure and give me the diameter of the ROPS, please? I remember it looks like it will be something close to 2"x2" or maybe 3"x3". Any assistance appreciated.
Thanks. Florida Al

I remember it being an odd size. I believe I used 1 1/2” angle iron. 2 pieces butted together over the top of the ROPS... trimmed one then tacked them together, removed them and welded them together. That’s what I built off of. It fit the rops so tightly it didn’t need any front supports. Two 3/8” pins and it pops right off.

Pau7220, Could you send me a picture of the underside, please? Or several pictures showing the details? I'm having a hard time visualizing what you did. I have the same canopy in the garage and your installation looks great. I'd like to do something similar.
Thanks. Florida Al

Al, here's some pictures of a canopy I built for my neighbor last year. $25 for the canopy at the local golf cart dealer, and some misc. iron. Used some threaded rod to make the clamps, and put some hose on to keep from scratching. Used a piece of unistrut for the bracket that is bolted to the canopy. I used all existing holes. Added the brace just because I had it and didn't want to have to remake something later if I didn't. Used bolts I had that fit the holes. Just a bit of welding required.

Here’s how I did it.

Last one is why I needed it easily removeable. Made the mistake of drilling the ROPS before I knew any better.
