L245DT GEAR SHIFTER.

Hi all - just got this little tractor and really am enjoying it.

Question - the gear shifter rather than moving up/down and Left/right has a arch swing to it. I can still get it in gears and all but it doesn't seem right, and teaching my little one to drive it makes it weird.

Are there forks or detents in the shifter undr the cover plate? ir is this the way it is?

Yes there are forks and detents in there.
