1976 model L245T 2100hrs showing, tach broken, stuck shifter.
Shift stuck in in 4/8, hi or low range, when shift lever is moved to Rev engine stalls. I fixed it by taking the plate off the top tranny and PTO levers are mounted. Re alined the shift forks back inline. (I never road shift it.)
Want to know what the cause of this problem, and fix it. I didn't see anything that looked wore or broken.
Thanks
Sbw

I just purchased it and a Bush Hog brand cutter a few days ago.

I have an L245DT that got stuck in reverse just after purchasing it as well. However upon removal of the plate for the shift lever it was obvious that the shift forks for shifting between first and reverse were incredibly worn. There should be no rounding out on the forks. I can post a pic of the worn forks if you'd like for reference.

I just got back in to cool off and checked for a reply to my post. A photo would be very useful. If I get back in to it I'll take a photo from same angle to compare. I just un-bent the front bumper (weight mount) with a little 6 ton bottle jack. Thanks for the photo.
