L2250 Motor Swap Question?

Hi folks

I have my next project lined up and wanted to see what insight might be out there before I get started.

The tractor is a L2250 and my research say's it's a 1.3L motor

It has a bad motor per the owner.....states it's "seized" and has been sitting on the trailer (picture) for at least a couple years. He has sought help with replacing the motor in the past and been told it's pretty difficult to find.

Well.....up pops a 1.3L motor for sale on an auction site out here, and I snag it. I was told it came from a mower type piece of equipment.

Anyone know weather or not this will work (the motor swaped into the L2250)

Of course, any and all suggestions and recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Nope.....like I tell my son...its just nuts & bolts.....I can figure it out!

I'm about to tell you some news your not going to want to hear.

The chances of being able to bolt in a D1305-IDI-M in place of a D1302-DI-A is going to be a real crap shoot, and the odds are not in your favor.

#1: Hydraulic pump attachment, I'm pretty sure that changed between these models.
#2: Flywheel offset and size, some of the cranks are different between and IDI and a DI engines.

You have both in front of you, pull the D1302, and start comparing.

Look at key details of each of the engines:

Like Oil filter placement.

Water inlets and outlets.

Alternator placement.

Oil pan, I'm betting they are different, and you'll need the oil pan with a valley in the middle to clear the propeller shaft.
If you do get lucky and the pans swap you also need to take note of the pickup, as the style and depth will probably be different.

Check for, one; The ability to bolt on the hydraulic pump, then two; the trick will be if the fuel cam has the right drive to run the pump.

Check for starter location as some will be too low to clear the tractor frame.

A lot of other details can spring up, but most can be worked around.

Next option and betting probably easier and cheaper in the long run, is to just rebuild the original engine.

I like the rebuild option....did this on a L295 a few years back...
