Is the tank full?
Maybe the gadient is enough to starve it of fuel as per your observation.
Its a LONG shot but a super easy thing to check.

Still under warranty?

Re: couta

Also, check the vent on your fuel tank. If it is stopped up, it won't allow fuel to flow properly and cause your engine to sputter and run poorly. Let us know what you find.

gooday and thanks for the direction.
fuel level was half but I filled up any way.
I had checked vent but did it again only to find the cap has two vent holes and one of these was blocked and covered with the varnish. The dealer had painted the engine with before delivery. I removed the rubber seal to find the foam baffle in the fuel cap was a pile of crumble. On closer examination i saw the fuel tap has two on positions and one off. I selected the other on position and
these combined actions seem to have made an improvement.
I ran the tractor both cold and hot and looked like i mite be heading in the right direction. Today is Saturday so will strip and clean fuel tap and clean fuel filter and water trap and see how it all goes.
thanks again.
couta.

old trick I heard of:

Put a marble or steel bearing in a gas tank (through the fill port) of someone you want to mess with.

When they go up-hill, it will starve the fuel system (by sitting on top of the fuel line at the exit from the tank) and the vehicle won't run, but when they get level (presumably after towing home/shop)....no "obvious" problem.

So........

Maybe there's something rollin around in there?
