L1802DT How do you bleed air from the hydraulics?

My L1802DT hydraulics operate slowly when they warm up. I might get an hour's use from my front-end loader and my 3 point hitch then their operation slows to nothing. Changed filter and fluid, but that has not improved the situation.

I was told that there may be air in the hydraulic system, and that if I open a line on the pressure side of the pump, and crank the motor this my purge any air from the system.

Only problem is, I don't know what to undo? Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers,

Andy

The system will self bleed any air just by using it.

If you have a leak on the suction side of the pump, the pump will continue to draw in air.

A leak on the suction side does not always make its presence known with fluid drips so you need to check every pipe, hose, clamp, O ring, ..........

How many hours operation on those filters? Have you ever cut one open to check for debris?

It could be that you have a suction side leak and the system is sucking air into it.
Look for wet spots in the suction side of the system.

Or you either have a bad pump or a bad pressure relief valve.
Of the two I'd say it's more likely that you have a bad pressure relief valve.
A pressure test of the system while its running might help figure out what's happening to it.
