I currently have an L175, it is worn out so I was looking at an L225 to replace it. Are they the same size frame? would some parts from the L175 work on the L225? I have three new tires on the L175 and the L225 needs new tires would they change over? Any and all thoughts of changing would be greatly appreciated. I am a rookie so any advice would be great.

I don't know for sure. The 185 and 245 were the same tractor, much like the 3200 and 3800. The 245 used bigger tires, however.
TractorData.com says about the same for the 175/225.
If it is 2WD, the wheels should not make a BIG difference...

Gpreuss, do you still have your L185, or did you sell it after getting your new machine? If you've still got it I'd like to see it sometime.

I sold it - I wish every day I hadn't. It was a GREAT tractor!

The L175 and the L225 were made around the same time frame.
They probably share a lot of the same parts, but I would guess the L175 has some lighter parts on it compared to the L225.
Most likely none of the motor parts will cross over.
The 175 has a 2 cylinder engine where the 225 has a 3 cylinder engine.
The tires on the L175 are smaller but being a 2wd it really doesn't matter too much.
L175 came with 4.00-12 front and 8.4-24 rear
L225 came with 4.00-15 front and 9.5-24 rear

I am actually going to go look at a L225DT this weekend. Just so I know in my mind before I get out there, how does this tractor compare in size to a newer L3200?

The L3200 is 500+ lbs heavier, and a bit bigger all the way around. Most noticable difference is in lights, ROPS, a jillion safety switches, etc. The L225 is more like a B frame with larger AG tires. It'll run a 5' mower, 4' tiller, pull a 6' rear blade. The FEL, if it has one, will manhandle 600-700 lbs. Great tractor.
