Heres another water temp guage install for those interested. Machined my own inline probe adaptor to fit a gauge assembly from the local hardware store. Had to remove about 1" of length from the water outlet spigot (front flange of the head). The guage i bought was a nice small 1.5" one so that it could still fit onto my dash with no issues. Took it out snowblowing the driveway afterwards and was pleasantly surprised with how well it all works. The thermosyphon system does run quite a bit hotter than a regular pumped coolant system. At -15C/5F i saw 200F at one point while pushing thru a deep 5' wide swath of snow. When not working hard it usually ran around 170-180F. Idling it topped out at around 130F. Sounds about right to me. Anybody have any numbers for summer operations that they have seen? With my 5' finishing mower i am expecting to see in the lower 200's all the time i would guess.

Very nice looking job.

What material - aluminum or SSt?

Do you think you could have done a Tee and replaced the hose curve with the Tee? Hose from block into the side of the Tee, hose from radiator into one end of the Tee and the sensor in opposite end.
