Goodevenening eveyone.
Dumb question and im expecting i will get smacked for even asking
L1501 is rated at 15 hp.
I understand the L185 is 18 hp and both use the z751 engine
Just the injection pump is turned up. Do i face a boatload of problems by adjusting pump or just keep my hands in my pockets. Could use a touch more grunt for running my mower.

Thanks.

Im going to take a look at it this weekend, give it a little and see what happens.
I was mowing last night and i was in some heavy grass, didnt stall but made it snort some.mower is 60" three blade. And i was cutting just above the roots. Would like to go a little faster without revving wide open.

All i've done is bush hogged the neighbors field. Pretty rough in spots so i was going slow. Dude never cleaned up the debris from the tornado a couple months back. I was having to go around quite a bit of stuff. I quit and told him when he got the boards and crap picked up i would come back and finish. How does it handle the 60" beside lugging down in the thick stuff?

If it was smooth ground and grass at reasonable height i bet i could rattle along in third gear.
Allis chalmers 63 mower. Old and clunky but works smooth.

They don't make stuff like they used to;) i compared the part numbers from an l175, to the 185. Looks like they are running a heavier cam in the injection pump, and a heavier cartridge in the top of pump as well. Didn't compare all the pieces and parts for the cartrige to see if there would be a simple swap. Too many part numbers ;) the actual injectors in both motors are the same. So it looks like they increased the travel on the cam and cartridge to add the more fuel to the injectors. There might be a slight difference in the timing as well to compensate for the extra fuel.
Wouldn't be feasible on my end unless i had to do a head gasket, then while i was in there, well :D:D

Another thing i'm gonna look into is trying to get my hands on an actual l1501 parts manual and compare to a l185. For all we know, we could have the same parts as the l185 and could already be running the same hp:rolleyes:

Well, after a couple hours mowing and happy with the performance, i have reconsidered tweaking injector pump.especially looking in the fuel tank. Down about two inches. Shocking how little fuel it uses.
Maybe a little twist yet, just to see if it doesent bog as much in heavy stuff.
