Would anybody happen to know the alternator amperage output on my L1501?
I need to run a couple 12 volt motors while making boimass pellets and dont want to tax the alternator.

My searches didnt amount to anything, guess i could put my carbon pile tester on it to see what it takes to pull voltage down but again, i dont want to beat on alternator unnecessarily.

If i do smoke the alternator, i will be forced to kick myself.
Dont know about grafting in a delco 12si just yet

Thanks
Frank.

Frank,

Can you give a little more info? These motors are gonna pull a right good many amps to do the work with only 14 volts via the alternator. Could you set up a system where you have external batteries that are being used then recharged? Or would it be possible to bring along a generator to convert and do the work? Any info on the motors?

Combined would maybe draw 30 amps. Both are fan motors, one runs a rotating screen and other is a small rad fan to blow dust and cool pellets. Im grasping at straws here but im thinking alt would be around 40 amps. Trying to make pellets free of hydro consumption.just burning diesel- then i can derive an exact cost for making them.

That is a lot of amps.............smoke will come out of that alternator! Not sure how you could approach that problem. Anyway to do it and NOT use those two motors?

It's 25 amp max.
You would be taxing it adding in much more to it.
Either up the alternator to a much bigger one, or use a PTO generator.

North Idaho Wolfman hit the nail on the head. Its 25 amps, got the number off alternator and changed it up. Its not uncommon. Go figure. Will be checking motors for amp usage, i dont want to be over 20.
Thanks guys.
Once im making pellets, will put up a video on youtube.
