My old L1500 (similar to L175) has about 80 degrees of free play in the steering.
I removed the steering wheel, dash, and fuel tank which was all pretty easy.
I then removed the steering shaft, and steering box.
I dismantled the box to find that both shaft bearings were totally shot. The bearing cages were so worn the balls were falling out.
I could find plenty of USA sites selling new bearings - but it took me a while to find one in the uk.
Eventually found this part which seems to be correct. I'll let you know if it fits, and get some photo's of the repair process later in the week.
