I just got my tractor and it was rode hard and put away wet. 3 point hitch has never lifted since I owned it and the previous owner added hydraulic lines to run a log splitter. I have flushed and changed all trans, rear axle and hydraulic fluid. Also the hydraulic pump and screen filter were replaced. Checked the pressure relief valve and shimmed it correctly, it was not stuck though. I still have no lift to 3 point no matter the position of the knob under seat is
Fluid and filter were both filthy and fluid had a very fine, white particulate matter that would settle to the bottom of the drain pan. Doesn't seem to be any resistance to the lift arms if I physically lift them. Anyone have any ideas where I should go next? Thanks Jeff

Please explain how you checked and set the relief valve.

How are the log splitter hydraulic lines plumbed into the system?

I would start checking flow out of the pump and if there is flow then pressure.

You can also check that the suction line is not blocked by disconnecting the suction line from the pump. There is a small length of rubber hose between two steel pipes that can be disconnected. But that is messy and can drain the fluid out of the sump.

To see if you have flow out of the pump you need to disconnect the pump output line and crank the engine. You may be able to use the lines to the log splitter instead but post some pictures of how it is piped for suggestions.

Thinking again about the piping to the log splitter, there may be some sort of valve to divert flow from tractor to the splitter connections. That could be the problem or that could have destroyed the pump if it is deadheading the pump. The relief valve is at the three point hitch control valve in that tractor, so depending on how it was done makes a big difference.

Take some pictures and post them. Look at the top center of the post window (between a chain link and a smiley face) for a button that shows a “mountain photo”. Press it to attach the photo. You may have to have 5 posts before you can attach any photos, so just post a few with more descriptions of the problem or what you have done or whatever.
