Any one ever consider putting a three cylinder in a two cylinder Kubota? I have a L 185 that is pretty tired, and I've been thinking about repowering it with a Kubota three cylinder.

Just checked my L 185 engine numbers. It's a Z751-A-03187. So the $64 question is which series three cylinder should I start looking for.
Thanks,
Steve

Hey there wrock, welcome to the site. I know it seems like you are talking to yourself at the moment, but I think Vic is best suited to answer your question. He's in the shop during the day but at night he comes out to answer questions. Hang in there! :D

where do you find a replacment engine??

Welcome to the forum.:)

One Kubota dealer in my area estimated $4K for a replacement engine. That was MY engine that would be rebuilt by some service location because there was not an engine assembly available from Kubota.
If building is the only option then talk to a machine shop or an engine builder that you know. They can get parts and build your engine like new.

I built my Z750 2 cyl back for less than 1/3 of the estimated cost and all the parts are new Kubota. ;););)

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

What do you mean when you say "tired?" I have a B6100E that is very tired. It has so much blowby that if the wind isn't blowing you have to hold your breath to hook up to it. It starts, runs good, the exhaust is clean, doesn't over heat and it doesn't use hardly any oil. I've thought about running the blowby hose into the intake like some of the newer engines.

RDR: dont run the blowby into the engine! if you do and try to stop the engine it will run on the blowby. you will have to put it in gear and stall the engine in order to stop it. ask me how i know...........al
