hello everyone I am new to the site .I have a l 1501 the issue I'm having is condensation in the hydraulic oil keeps clogging my oil screen . I drained the oil and cleaned the screen in the spring do to 3 point not working .slow to respond and jerking.the oil that came out was very milky and like white jelly. I was very picky as for cleaning the crud out with paper towels and also removed the bottom plate were one of the drain plugs are..itworked great for like 10 hrs of hard grading with York blade then same symptons came back.so amonths ago again I drained oil cleaned filter.white slime was actually peeling off the screen when cleaning.again very picky when cleaning..worked great for like 5 hrs of use..again 3 point began being erratic and not wanting to go up..so at this point I ran the tractor to heat it up emmediately drained the fluid.so it is sitting dripping out at the moment.note before I drained the fluid I pressurized the system to make sure the breather was not clogged and the tube out of the top freely blew air[is there suppose to be a filter on that tube] as for the oil that came out of this last draing was milky but no white slime on the filter.so I hace the filter soaking in brake clean right now..being the tractor is excess of 30 yrs old should I buy a new filter screen and is there a additive to put in the hydraulic oil to help clean or eliminate this condensation problem any help would be appreciated thanks chuck

I assume you are keeping it indoors for storage? If not water can enter around shift levers.

When draining be sure you drain the rear axle housings. There are two or four drain plugs on the inner vertical sides.

You can also pump fluid directly from a bucket and drain it to be sure you have removed all contaminated fluid. I'll try to locate a post about how to do that and post a link

For that link search "fast transmission flushing"
Use the post with that title

For my L185 which is similar to your tractor I just took a new 5 gallon bucket of cheap fluid, installed a piece of PVC and connected it to a flexible hose that is right below the hydraulic pump. Leave the drain plug out and pump the 5 gallons in and drain to another bucket.

Thank you Russell. I will search for that. Yes the tractor is stored inside. And I will take a look for those vertical drain plugs on the axles thank you

I am sure they will go bad if not handled right. If there are no large hole you will be fine. It is really just a fine screen.

I bought a new one just so I can have a clean screen ready to put in and don't have to spend time cleaning it during the change of fluids.
