So once again, I am baffled put my dash on the tractor today pulled out the key put it in the key switch, I swear this used to be a 4 position switch I can only turn the key to one position now. What in the world would make a switch not go to the other two positions, which are the low and high beam light positions. If it's not one thing it's the next I swear.
It's not that the switch costs a lot of money it's just why now! [emoji16]

Bill, try some penetrating oil in the key switch before buying another one. May have some gunk in the tumblers. :D

You may need to pull the key out a bit. Often they get worn and need to be jiggled to the right spot to turn to all positions

Tried that, and graphite first, Nothing

Also tried that.

If I remember, one of the screws on one of the switches would not come loose
to save my life, and it twisted, the whole connector, may have been this one?
It worked fine before I re-did my harness, I may have screwed it up

how are you gonna tear down the key switch, its pressure closed by the metal to the plastic body and its impossible to open it and close it later..

Well if I can't I won't, but if I can I'll get at it, I've tore lots of other things apart that weren't supposed to be taken apart.

I admire your determination. Had the ighnition switch on my 97 intrepid go bad half way to work, dead of winter and circuit that powers heater went dead. Fortunately the remote starter would power the fan. Replaced with an aftermarket switch and it instantly melted.
Took apart old one and repaired it. Then ordered a new oem switch to replace when the one i fixed gave out. It never failed.

Yours is likely a tumbler issue or the twisted terminal from bad screw you mentioned. Good luck.

Well for the time being you may be right, I did just buy a new switch for fifty bucks. But now I have a spare that I can definitely play with and see if I can crack open.
