L 1500 dt

Well I thought this was a done deal at $1000, alls I had to do was hear it run and do a test drive, bring the money, and pick it up. But now he's back peddling on the price. So I think I'd like an opinion if I could get one or two.

The tractor in question is a 1970 L 1500 DT the hour meter is showing just over 1400 hours, comes with a 4 foot brush hog, a 4 foot rear blade, a 4 foot box scraper, a M10 4 foot front loader,
and he says he has a pair off forks but I've only seen 1 at this point.

Says the only problem is it has no reverse, now he's asking $1500, I'm sure all the implements are worth that. But I'm wondering about the potential cost to fix no reverse.

A tractor with no reverse is dang near worthless.
Here in lies the issue, being a gray market tractor finding the parts can get very tricky as no dealer will sell the parts to you and your only real hope is finding used parts.

Like Wolfman said, a tractor without reverse is a yard ornament.

If you needed parts or implements, $1000 isn't a bad price. Nice GB loader with mounting brackets, box blade, mower, rear blade-----all nice if you need them.

If you like a challenge, go back and walk around the tractor, ask questions. "How long you had this tractor? How long has it been without reverse, How did it happen, Have you tried to find parts for it? Have you gotten an estimate of what it might take to fix it?"

Then after discussion (to show your interest) tell him he's going the wrong way with the price. After you did some homework you have found out it is nearly impossible to find parts for Grey Market Kubotas and Kubota dealers won't have or sell any parts for them. Got to find them at a salvage yard.

Offer $800 and start walking away. If he doesn't agree----keep walking.

Shoot theres 800 bucks worth of stuff with it, so you could get your money back and then sell the tractor or part it out

www.best-used-tractors.com in Oregan claims to have most all parts, with the exception of sheet metal to keep most grey market tractors running. I think next week when the owner is back in town, I will start negotiating. Will see what happens.
