Hi guys I just bought a kx71-3. It's an 05 with 1800 hours. It seems to me to have an issue lifting itself up (testing hydraulics). If I spin the machine around and put the grade blade behind me and the bucket in front. If I put the grade blade down first then try to lift the machine with the bucket it will not lift? But the other way around it will? I'm just not sure just bought it yesterday.

If you are concerned about hydraulics having it lift itself is not a good test, have a tech put a gauge on it to see if its within specs. If digs and lifts full buckets with no effort it should be ok. With only 1800 hrs it should be fine. Check out log book of PO for hydraulic filters hr change out, final drives lub etc. USE YOUR SEATBELT. Good luck.

My experience with excavators is they have much more lift power than they do push power. They are made to dig, not push.

Having the blade behind you changes the geometry of the lift capacity. When doing that you are trying to lift way more than the normal machine weight. Same difference when I have my backhoe on my tractor. If I put the outriggers down first the loader won't pick the front tires off the ground. If I lift the front tires first it's fine.

Exkx61 gave you the best advise. If you think it's underpowered pressure test the hyd system.

Thanks for the replies guys. It has no problem digging full buckets. and its not like its a powerplant with 26hp. I just wanted to make sure. I bought the machine for 13k. I need to replace the front main roller (ill do it myself) and one of the idler pullies are squawking. I haven't found any other issues yet hopefully.
