Got my KX080 stuck in a trench and then we had a torrential downpour overnight. The machine was flooded to just below the seat cushion. I have it out and now and have a heater in the cab drying it out. I am wondering what to check before starting it. I have not turned the key as I am hoping to dry things out first. There is no sign of water on the dipstick and in the hydraulic reservoir but will open up the drains in case it has settled to the bottom of the sump and reservoir. What else should I check.

The short answer is check everything. Pressure wash every part and dry thoroughly. Then lube everything, and put grease in every zerk. Then change all fluids,

I assume you will drain all fluids out and replace them all. You might want to flush with a cheaper fluid and then use the SUDT2 if that is the proper fluid. I would even recommend you change the coolant.
I would drain the fuel and replace it also. If that engine uses the high pressure common rail injection system, I think I would have the Kubota dealer tell me what to do/how to eliminate any water.
I think you will need to wash out all cavities with clean water and vacuum out the mud as best you can in those that won’t drain out well.
Put a dehumidifier in the cab and run it until the humidity drops to near nothing like 35% after you get it cleaned up. I would run a dehumidifier over night in the cab for a month or two just to keep it dry and prevent some corrosion.

Remove all 4 glow plugs and turn the engine over by hand several times. After that, you can crank the engine using the starter to completely clear the cylinders as the intake and exhaust were below water.

recharge the battery then write down everything on a list and CONFIRM it was done

I would be sending the picture to your insurance company and let them decide how to handle the problem. Most likely they will have the Kubota dealer pick it up and do the repair, assuming that you have insurance on the machine. Damage might not show up initially and by reporting it immediately will protect you in the long run.
