Kubota virgin part 2

Alrighty, I've changed the oil and filter, I tried to shut off the valve for the fuel filter, but it kept flowing. Closed the valve, and then bled the fuel lines. I've cleaned the air filter, even washed it. I have the battery charging and cannot seem to get the tractor to turn over. I took a video but am having a difficult time uploading it.

Make sure the battery connections are clean and tight. Are you sure the battery is in good shape? Also put the trans and pto both in neutral and fully depress the clutch when you try to crank it over. Do any lights illuminate on the dash when you turn the key to "on"? Have you seen this tractor run?

Yes, the tractor was running last week, just always a lot of very black smoke coming from the stack. The lights illuminate and the battery is properly connected. It ALMOST turns over but then it just goes right back to trying. I have a video but can't upload here.

Im not sure we're speaking the same language here. Does the engine rotate or not when you turn the key?
"Turn over" generally means the engine will rotate.
"Fire" generally means the engine is trying to start, usually will be some type of smoke and the occasional popping sound out of the exhaust.

If I understand you correctly you washed the air filter. If so before you do anything else replace you filter with a new one. Paper filters don't like water. Lets get that taken care of and we'll go from there.

I'll second the new filter!
Also when you bleed the lines you need to have the fuel on not off?
Are you giving it 30 sec or more of preheat on the glow plugs?
Have you checked to make sure the glow plugs are working?
What color smoke is coming out the stack when your trying to start it?
Is there a significant amount of smoke coming out the breather tube?

Well, right about now, I'm thinking of throwing in the wrench! Yes, the engine "turns over" and "fires" but just doesn't quite succeed in turning on. I saw Vic's video on the air filter, and did wash it. The glow plug (singular) is working but no, I did not give it 30 seconds. I have no idea what a breather stack is (blushing at my ignorance). Smoke is grey, no longer black.

Two things that I have learned from this experience so far:
1. Always have the right tools for the job and
2. Never wear an exposed belly piercing while working on a tractor. Diesel, oil and blood... it's not a pretty sight!

Okay, I believe I did mention that this is ALL very new to me!!!!
