I have plenty of the Super UDT 2 for my kubota, I purchased a Gravely zero turn that I was going to top off the res for the trans. The owners manual specs 15W-50 synthetic hydralic oil, I checked the Kubota hydralic oil container, it doesn't state a viscosity rating. Does anyone have any info if the Kubota hydralic oil is compatable ?

Tks, was hoping I could use one type for both pieces of equipment, I'll just go purchase their brand of oil and be done with it
Check what the manual says for the gravely transaxles.

I was thinking along similar lines when I got my kubota zero turn. Then started going through the manual and realized it took motor oil in the tranaxles.

I am gonna look into whether I can use Sudt2 in my Massey tractor to quiet the hydrostatic wine 🤔🤔🤔🤔

I use JD Hy-Gard in my JD.
I use Agco Permatran 821 XL in my MF.
I use Kubota SUDT2 in my Kubota.

Get the right stuff that the manufacturer calls for.

SUDT2 is a Universal Tractor Transmission Oil (UTTO) formulated for use in hydraulic systems, transmissions, final drives. axles, steering and wet brakes used in common sump tractors.

Kinematic viscosity @100C: 8.1 cSt
Kinematic viscosity @40C: 37 cSt
Brookfield viscosity @-40C: 1600 cP
Viscosity index: 199

Engine oil viscosity grade: SAE 5W20
Gear oil viscisity grade: SAE 70W80
API gear oil service category GL-4

SUDT2 is specifically formulated with an elevated ability to absorb free water for improved rust and corrosion protection and even among UTTOs its somewhat unique. John Deere Hygard Lo-vis (J20D) and CNH Ultraction SSL (MAT 3541) are very similar (dare I say functionally equivalent?) formulations.

What model Massey and what is the recommended oil?

1825E hydrostatic. Couldn't tell you what the recommended oil is, I gotta download the manual.
Looks like Permatran 821XL which is a very conventional (J20C) UTTO. It has a KV100 of 9.5 cSt and viscosity index is 140.

SUDT2 is a lower viscosity formulation that might reduce whine and will definitly lighten your wallet. John Deere Hygard Lo-vis (J20D) might be a less expensive experiment.

I did check the manual, it's recommending 15W-50 hydralic oil. With a viscosity rating like that, it looks more like an engine oil and with done digging, I found two different fluids. I suspect they're using engine oil for both.

The label clearly says 15W50 transmission and engine oil. HydroGear switched to engine oil in their transaxles some time ago.
