Has anyone installed the K7811-42380 throttle pedal bracket from Kubota on the 850 sidekick .I have a 2022 and the throttle is so sensitive I was at the dealer today and the bracket is designed to postion your foot better at the pedal I wondered if anyone has installed the bracket and if so has it helped with the sensitivety of the throttle. I also heard of replacing the spring at the throttle pedal with a heavier spring.

I have mine in at the dealer for a separate issue and one of the things I mentioned was the twitchy pedal issue. I had already installed the $8 barn door hinge mod; but it's still waaaaay too sensitive, especially when in reverse.

It will be interesting to see what they do about it.

Yeah I put a few of those brackets on. They don't do much for making it less "twitchy". You can bend the throttle pedal a little and it helps. It's a really dumb design, IMO. Some manufacturers use an electronic throttle valve (ETV) for this very reason. They can be controlled differently such that the engine is much more controllable.

My brother has a 2022 850 and I have a 2023 850. YES the throttle position is awful, but with much experimenting we have come up with a very good solution. Cut a 2x4 as long as you want, mine is about 4" long. Cut it diagonally to create a wedge. I cut mine at a little steeper than corner to corner. Then sand a rounded top edge of the 2x4. Velcro this to the floor where it is most comfortable for you. Then I use a 1x4 with a notch cut out for the throttle pedal to go to the stop. Cut this as long as needed to support the wedge from tipping. This is only to keep the wedge from tipping. This setup not only fixes the jumpy 2022 and supposedly earlier models throttle but also makes it very easy to control your speed.
You can keep your foot firmly planted on the floor and slide your foot forward for faster speed and back for slower speeds.

My brother and I have come up with a very good and simple fix. Cut a 2x4 at a angle a little steeper than corner to corner, round off the top edge and Velcro ( from hobby lobby) it to the floor. I use a 1x4 to from the wedge to the plastic front to support the wedge from tipping. almost like cruise control. Slide your foot forward for higher speed and back for slower cruising speed. My brother has the very sensitive throttle and this fixed it!!

that's just a crutch for a poorly engineered unit. I mean, it works, but it'll rot in time.

It should have an electronic throttle valve, which almost every other manufacturer uses nowadays. Then the ECU can tailor the throttle opening; can even set it up such that bouncing over rough terrain doesn't constantly open/close the throttle valve.

It's a really good crutch tho:) Holding my toes up was very painful and considered getting rid of it till I made this mod. Bumps force your foot to move up and down with no support This mod gives your foot support eliminating the jerk and painful foot position. When it rots I will spend a few minutes making a new one. I just hope this mod will help others enjoy their machine more.

That's not a fix for the poorly designed throttle jerkiness. It does let you rest your foot better. The barn hinge mod does the same thing essentially.

We're looking for a solution to the throttle jerkiness and lack of slow speed control.

Did you make this already? This really worked on my brothers jerky throttle and low speed control. I didn't try the barn door thing, but tried different springs and foot support and positions, This may not work for everyone but cheap enough to try. Have fun everyone!

Buy bigger boots? You must have really small feet if you can't operate the gas pedal without your heel on the floor.

Good one :) I tried different ideas and one was similar to a plain 2x4 which lifted my heel off the floor. I Guess I knew what I was talking about:)

curious, looked at online drawings, simple cable system
if it's 'too responsive', need to put cable hole further away from pivot point in the control arm. this slows down the response as it has to travel(move) further to operate the throttle. Anyone who has RC machines or MECCANO knows about this and it will take some time experimenting to get it better or just right.
You could replace the cable with a PIC a pot and an RC servo($50), cut some code and have your foot pedal perform the way you want.

I wear a size 15 1/2 shoe. I still find it hard to regulate the throttle on the sidekick's particularly at lower speeds. So that is not an issue. Keep in mind, I'm also a semi-professional drag racer, so throttle regulation on a really really "responsive" engine is an art, one of which I've gotten decent at after doing it for 35+ years. Sidekicks are just poorly thought out in that sense. They desperately need an electronic throttle valve like almost every other manufacturer uses. You don't know how "good" ETV's are until you get off of a sidekick and onto a Ranger. At low speed in rougher terrain, a sidekick will wear you out, and possibly cause you to drive into something you didn't intend to whereas the Ranger (in this comparison) is an absolute joy to drive. Very smooth throttle. The on/off throttle from rough terrain is ignored by the ecu and it mostly maintains throttle opening. Yet, when you want to go fast, it senses that and, you go fast. Hard to describe until you've driven them, side by side. The difference is stark. Kubota really messed up on the sidekicks and we told them that they day we got the first one. Yet here we are, what, 9 years later? And they're STILL cranking them out. They made one improvement to the throttle but it wasn't enough. It is outdated.

You should appreciate the toggle switch ON/OFF throttle!

Backing up a trailer is a challenge for the uninitiated.

BTW I recently changed my rear tires from the mudders to 10-ply GBC Mongrels and find way less wheel spin after. Heavier than the OEM's

another musing about the sidekick. Had a customer stop in at work today, had a 22 sidekick. 194 hours. He test drove a Ranger 570 and we were steering him clear of that one and in favor of the Ranger 1000. So after getting off of the 570, we put him on a 1000 and he wanted it immediately. But he wanted to trade the sidekick in on it, to offset a lot of the cost. After all the price difference is negligible. So ok, we look up the trade value and it was poor. Better option when that happens, we have several contacts who buy a lot of our traded-in units. So we sent them pics and info, like we always do. 6 different guys. Highest offer was $1500. That's nuts. If that is what the market is for these things, I want no part of them. I don't want no part of these turds anyway, but that kind of sealed the deal. Finally called a friend who's been known to buy a few things, and he offered $4500. Of course the customer said he couldn't do that (don't blame him), and is going to sell it on his own. But we still sold him a Ranger 1000. I guess in this area the sidekick 850 just isn't that popular among owners and among resellers.
